Overview
The Vortex 209 Cruiser Retrofit Hydraulic Roller package is engineered for traditional Small Block Chevy 262–400 cubic inch engines originally equipped with flat tappet camshafts but upgraded to modern hydraulic roller valvetrain technology.
This package combines a precision-ground cast hydraulic roller camshaft with premium Johnson 2116SBR Short Travel Link-Bar Lifters to deliver smooth street manners, excellent low-end torque, crisp throttle response, and improved valvetrain reliability compared to conventional flat tappet combinations.
With 209°/209° duration @ .050", the Vortex 209 Cruiser is designed for strong off-idle response and broad street torque while maintaining excellent vacuum production and smooth idle characteristics. The conservative .400" valve lift makes this cam ideal for stock-to-mild performance engines requiring dependable drivability, towing capability, highway cruising comfort, and long-term reliability without aggressive spring requirements.
The included Johnson short-travel retrofit roller lifters improve hydraulic control, reduce pump-up tendencies, and provide superior valve stability compared to conventional retrofit hydraulic roller lifters.
Available in 108°, 110°, and 112° LSA configurations, the Vortex 209 Cruiser can be tailored for mild street performance, towing applications, EFI-friendly drivability, or smooth daily-driver operation.
