🏁 Product Overview
The REDLINE CAMS ProBoost Strip is designed specifically for high-performance boosted small block Chevy builds that demand more airflow and stronger midrange/top-end power. With a wider 115° LSA, this camshaft helps manage boost efficiently, reducing overlap for cleaner cylinder filling under pressure while maintaining strong throttle response.
Perfect for street/strip turbocharged or supercharged engines running ~10–14 psi, the ProBoost Strip cam balances drivability with aggressive power gains, making it an excellent choice for racers who want track-capable performance without sacrificing street manners.
⚙️ Performance Characteristics
Broader powerband from 2200 to 6400 RPM – excellent midrange pull with strong top-end charge.
Optimized for single or twin turbo setups as well as roots, centrifugal, or screw superchargers.
Works best with upgraded fuel and ignition systems for reliable boosted operation.
Wider 115° LSA provides excellent boost management and helps control cylinder pressure under higher PSI.
🔧 Recommended Upgrades
To maximize performance and reliability with the ProBoost Strip camshaft:
Valve Springs: Upgrade to performance springs matched for .460"/.440" lift.
Lifters: Always use new hydraulic flat tappet lifters with cam install.
Fuel System: High-flow fuel pump, boost-capable regulator, and properly sized injectors/carb jetting.
Ignition: Boost-timed ignition control recommended.
Exhaust: Free-flowing turbo headers or long-tube headers for supercharged builds.
Tune: Professional dyno tuning required to optimize boost, AFR, and timing.
⚠️ Install Notes
Requires proper piston-to-valve clearance check (especially with milled heads or dome pistons).
Camshaft must be installed with break-in paste and high-zinc break-in oil.
Follow correct flat tappet break-in procedure (2,000–2,500 RPM for 20–30 minutes).
This installation and tuning process should only be completed by a professional engine builder to ensure reliability and prevent premature failure.
✅ The REDLINE CAMS ProBoost Strip delivers the perfect balance of streetability and strip power for boosted small block Chevys running up to 14 psi.

ProBoost Camshaft Installation Instructions
(Small Block Chevy – Hydraulic Flat Tappet)
⚠️ Important Notice:
Camshaft installation requires precision measurements, specialty tools, and engine-building expertise. This procedure should only be performed and tested by a professional engine builder. Improper installation may cause severe engine damage and void warranty.📦 Tools & Supplies Needed
-
Torque wrench
-
Harmonic balancer puller
-
Camshaft installation handle (recommended)
-
Engine assembly lube / moly cam lube
-
Break-in oil (high-zinc, ZDDP)
-
New hydraulic flat tappet lifters (required)
-
Timing set (double roller recommended)
-
Gasket set (timing cover, intake, valve covers, etc.)
🔧 Installation Steps
1. Preparation
-
Disconnect battery.
-
Drain coolant and remove radiator (to avoid damage when sliding camshaft in/out).
-
Remove distributor, carb/throttle body, intake manifold, valve covers, rocker arms, pushrods, lifters, timing cover, and timing set.
-
Carefully remove old camshaft.
2. Camshaft Installation
-
Thoroughly clean cam journals and lifter bores.
-
Apply a generous coat of moly camshaft assembly lube to all lobes and journals.
-
Slowly slide the new ProBoost camshaft into the block using a steady hand or cam handle.
-
Install new timing set and align timing marks (dot-to-dot).
-
Verify proper end play (typically .004"–.010").
3. Lifter & Valve Train Setup
-
Always install new hydraulic lifters with a new flat tappet camshaft.
-
Coat each lifter bottom with assembly lube before inserting into lifter bores.
-
Install pushrods and rocker arms.
-
Set lifter preload:
-
Rotate engine to place each cylinder at TDC on compression stroke.
-
Tighten rocker nut until pushrod has zero lash (no up/down movement), then add ½–¾ turn for preload.
-
4. Final Assembly
-
Reinstall timing cover, harmonic balancer, intake manifold, distributor, valve covers, carb/throttle body, and accessories.
-
Fill crankcase with high-zinc break-in oil and prime oiling system before startup.
-
Refill coolant and reconnect battery.
🔥 Break-In Procedure (Critical for Flat Tappet Cams)
-
Start engine and immediately bring RPM to 2,000–2,500.
-
Hold between 2,000–2,500 RPM for 20–30 minutes, varying RPM slightly.
-
Monitor oil pressure, coolant temp, and check for leaks.
-
Do not allow the engine to idle during break-in.
-
After break-in, change oil and filter. Use high-zinc oil for continued camshaft protection.
⚡ Recommended Checks
-
Verify piston-to-valve clearance before final assembly (especially if heads are milled or aftermarket pistons are used).
-
Confirm valve spring pressures are within camshaft specifications (.460"/.440" lift).
-
A professional dyno tune or carb jetting is strongly recommended for boosted applications.
✅ Your ProBoost Strip Camshaft is now ready to deliver reliable boosted performance. Installation and testing must only be performed by a professional engine builder.
