Hydraulic Flat Tappet Camshaft & Lifter Kit

Ford 351C / 351M / 400

🔥 Aggressive Street/Strip Power for Cleveland Engines

The Redline Vortex 294 Street Reaper is built for Cleveland-powered machines that demand vicious mid-to-top-end power, a deep aggressive idle lope, and serious street attitude.

If you’re chasing that “this engine sounds angry” idle while keeping the proven reliability of a hydraulic flat tappet setup, the Street Reaper delivers.

Built around 244° duration @ .050, this cam thrives in the 3,200–6,400+ RPM range, where Cleveland engines really come alive. With the airflow capability of 351C, 351M, and 400 cylinder heads, the Street Reaper produces strong mid-range acceleration and relentless top-end charge.

This cam is ideal for aggressive street builds, weekend strip cars, and hot rods running higher compression and upgraded cylinder heads.

What This Cam Is Built For

Perfect for Cleveland-based performance builds including:

• 351C street/strip muscle cars

• 351M / 400 performance truck builds

• High-flow aftermarket or ported cylinder heads

• Free-flowing exhaust systems

• Manual transmission cars

• Automatic cars with aggressive converters

This cam is designed for builders who want serious street attitude with real top-end horsepower.

⸻

Recommended Supporting Components

To get the most from the Vortex 294 Street Reaper, we recommend:

• 2,500–3,000+ stall converter

• 3.73 – 4.10 rear gears

• Performance valve springs (130–140 lbs seat / 330+ open)

• Screw-in rocker studs and guideplates

• Hardened pushrods

• High-flow intake manifold

• 750–850 CFM carburetor or tuned EFI

• Long-tube headers with 2.5”+ exhaust

EFI applications will typically require custom tuning due to the cam’s overlap and aggressive idle signal.

⸻

Installation Notes

This kit includes new hydraulic flat tappet lifters to ensure proper camshaft break-in and long-term reliability.

Proper camshaft break-in is critical:

• Use high-zinc ZDDP break-in oil

• Apply moly camshaft assembly lube to lobes and lifters

• Run engine at 2,000–2,500 RPM for 20–30 minutes during break-in

• Verify valve spring pressures are compatible with the camshaft

For high-pressure springs, removing the inner springs during break-in is recommended.

⸻

Builder Notes

The Vortex 294 Street Reaper is not designed for mild street builds.

Expect:

• Aggressive idle behavior

• Reduced vacuum at idle

• Strong performance in 10:1–10.5:1 compression engines

This cam is best suited for serious street/strip Cleveland builds that want attitude and horsepower.
