If you're after more horsepower and a stronger mid-to-top-end pull, the 270 / 430 H.O. Camshaft is the upgrade you've been looking for. This is a hot street cam that adds serious performance above idle, making it a perfect match for builds that want to breathe better, rev quicker, and make real power without going full race.
Expect a slight drop in off-idle torque, but a big payoff in the midrange and high RPMs — especially when paired with intake and exhaust upgrades.

If you've run Engine Rebuilders (EPN) cams before, this will feel familiar — but better. Every cam is hand-ground in-house to exacting specs, backed by 32 years of full-time experience in performance camshaft grinding.
🧠 Professionally Ground – No Outsourcing, No Guesswork
These cams are made from brand-new cores and ground with care and precision — just like we’d build for our own truck. No imported blanks, no regrinds, just true performance.
💡 Lobe Separation Angle (LSA) Options:
Every cam comes standard with a 110° LSA, but we give you the freedom to tailor it to your setup:
108° LSA – Tighter lobe angle for more aggressive top-end power and a choppier idle
110° LSA – Great all-around performer for street or trail (standard)
112° LSA – Smooth idle, better vacuum, stronger low-end torque
114° LSA – Great for boosted/EFI/towing builds and helps fuel efficiency for daily drivers

⚠️ Important:
All new Toyota 22RE camshafts require high-zinc oil (ZDDP) during break-in and throughout the life of the engine to protect your cam and lifters from wear. Not sure if this cam is right for your build? Give us a call — we’re happy to help you get matched up with the perfect grind for your goals.

🛠️ Installation Instructions
REDLINE CAMS – Toyota 22R / 22RE Performance Camshaft
⚠️ Important Notes Before Installation
-
This camshaft is designed for Toyota 22R (carbureted) and 22RE (EFI) engines. (Demon camshaft may require tuning to run)
-
Valve lash must be set correctly for performance and durability:
-
Intake Lash: .007" (cold)
-
Exhaust Lash: .009" (cold)
-
-
Recommended ignition timing: ~18° BTDC, timing mark pointing just before the oil pump tab.
-
Always check piston-to-valve clearance when using high-lift cams.
-
Use high-zinc break-in oil for longevity and zinc oil for the life of the engine .
🔧 Tools & Supplies Needed
-
Metric socket/wrench set
-
Torque wrench
-
Feeler gauges (.007 and .009)
-
Timing light
-
Assembly lube (moly-based)
-
Break-in oil with ZDDP
-
New REDLINE CAMS rocker arms and valve cover gaskets recommended
📖 Step 1 – Disassembly
-
Disconnect battery and drain coolant.
-
Remove valve cover, distributor, timing cover, and timing chain assembly.
-
Remove rocker arms and shafts (keep in order if reused).
-
Remove the old camshaft carefully.
📖 Step 2 – Camshaft Installation
-
Coat new camshaft lobes and journals with assembly lube.
-
Carefully slide camshaft into place, avoiding bearing damage.
-
Reinstall timing chain, ensuring cam and crank timing marks are aligned.
-
If adjustable timing gear is used, degree the cam for accuracy.
-
-
Torque cam gear bolts to spec and reinstall timing cover.
📖 Step 3 – Valvetrain Setup
-
Reinstall rocker shafts, arms, and pushrods.
-
Set valve lash (cold) with feeler gauges:
-
Intake: .007"
-
Exhaust: .009"
-
-
Rotate engine by hand and recheck lash for all valves.
📖 Step 4 – Ignition Timing Setup
-
Reinstall distributo
-
Once engine is running, use timing light to set ignition timing to ~18° BTDC.
📖 Step 5 – Startup & Break-In
-
Prime oil system before first start.
-
Start engine and bring to ~2,000 RPM for 20 minutes to ensure proper cam break-in.
-
Monitor oil pressure, coolant temperature, and listen for abnormal valvetrain noise.
📖 Step 6 – Post-Install Checklist
-
Recheck and adjust valve lash after break-in.
-
Change oil and filter after 30 minutes of run time.
-
Verify ignition timing again (~18° BTDC).
-
For EFI (22RE): ECU tuning is optional but improves drivability with bigger cams. (Demon camshaft may require tuning to run)
✅ Your 22R/RE Performance Camshaft is now installed, delivering a lopey idle, stronger midrange, and improved top-end power.

Reseñas
After chewing up a lobe on another cam I bought one of these cams and was able to install it with the head in place by pulling the ugs and fi ding TDC on #1 BEFORE removing the headbolts and old camshaft. The performance difference is night and day. So much so I just purchased two more cams, one for my other truck and one for a customers '87 22r.
You will not be disappointed.
