The Vortex 234 Street Venom is the bite your Small Block Ford’s been waiting for — a sharp, aggressive street/strip cam that blends top-end pull with venomous midrange torque and an unmistakable lope.

 

With 234°/234° duration @ .050", this grind is designed to push high-flow heads and free-breathing exhaust systems to their full potential. The Street Venom’s symmetrical lobes deliver explosive throttle response and clean overlap for crisp scavenging and power through 6,800+ RPM.

Available in 110° and 112° LSA (installed 4° advanced), it gives builders the choice between an aggressive, race-inspired idle or smoother EFI-compatible performance — without sacrificing that trademark Vortex attitude.

  • Character: Smoothest version, best vacuum, slightly broader powerband — great for EFI and street-strip balance

  • Valve Springs: Dual springs, 140 lbs seat / 360 lbs open minimum
    (Comp Cams 987-16 or PAC 1220 equivalents)

  • Pushrods: Hardened chromoly 5/16" or 3/8" wall

  • Lifters: Hydraulic roller lifters  (RETROFIT tie-bar style)

  • Rocker Arms: 1.6:1 roller rockers recommended; 1.7 optional for additional lift

  • Valve Seals & Guides: Positive seals with .560"+ clearance minimum

 

🏁 Recommended Torque Converter & Gearing

 

Street/Strip (110° LSA)

  • Converter Stall: 3000–3400 RPM

  • Rear Gear: 3.73–4.11

  • Character: Hard launch, race-like idle, sharp throttle hit

 

Street EFI (112° LSA)

  • Converter Stall: 2600–3000 RPM

  • Rear Gear: 3.55–3.73

  • Character: Slightly smoother idle, best vacuum for street/EFI use
