VORTEX 234 AGGRESSION — Ford FE Hydraulic Roller Camshaft
234°/234° @ .050 • .349"/.349" Lobe Lift • 112° LSA
Broad-Torque Street/Strip Roller for FE 352–428
Overview
The Vortex 234 Aggression is a street/strip hydraulic roller designed for FE engines that require a stronger midrange and top-end charge without sacrificing the drivability and vacuum offered by a 112° lobe separation. With 234° duration @ .050 and .349” lobe lift, this profile provides excellent area under the curve, improved cylinder filling, and a noticeably aggressive idle while maintaining stable street manners.
Built around the same proven .349” exhaust lobe lift used in the 227/234 profile, the 234 Aggression offers reliable valvetrain dynamics, consistent rocker geometry, and strong performance in 390–428 FE combinations.

Operating Range
2,600 – 6,400+ RPM depending on cylinder head flow and spring setup.
Performance Characteristics
Idle Quality
Distinctly aggressive, sharp exhaust note
Wider separation offers cleaner vacuum and improved EFI stability
Very pronounced lope, but not unstable
Power Delivery
Strong midrange torque with clean pull through 6,400+ RPM
Roller profile increases area under the lift curve, improving cylinder pressure and overall volumetric efficiency
Works exceptionally well with high-flow FE heads and long-tube headers
Street Manners
Maintains power-brake vacuum in most combinations
Smooth part-throttle drivability due to 112° LSA
Ideal for street cars that still demand real strip performance
Recommended Components
To achieve full performance potential:
Matched hydraulic-roller valve springs for .620”+ lift
Chromoly pushrods
Performance rocker shafts and end supports
High-flow intake manifold & long-tube headers
10.0:1 to 11.0:1 compression ratio recommended
Proper carburetor calibration or EFI tuning
Converter & Gear Recommendations
Automatic: 2,800–3,200 stall
Manual: Performs best with 3.50–4.11 rear gearing
Engine Applications
Ideal for:
390–428 FE street/strip builds
Heavier chassis needing improved midrange torque
Hot street motors requiring modern roller valvetrain stability
Weekend performance cars, cruisers, and bracket builds
Not recommended for:
Stock heads
Low compression engines
Under-geared or towing applications
Why the Vortex 234 Aggression Works
